A replacement filter must match the system flow and available service space. A universal distance from the pool or a larger advertised area is not a complete specification.
Build the equipment record
- Photograph the existing filter label, pump model, pipe size and pad. Record available height and access around the tank.
- Provide the operating flow or pump settings for filtration, cleaning and heating. Have the installer compare the highest expected flow against the proposed filter’s rating.
- Ask for a documented mounting, drainage and service-clearance plan. For Clean & Clear Plus, the required overhead clearance depends on the model; use its dimensions table rather than a guessed six-foot rule.
Specify a complete job
Include appropriate plumbing connections, accessible pressure gauge and air relief, manufacturer-required supports and safe control access. A qualified installer should confirm isolation, pressure relief, clamp assembly and startup from the exact manual. Do not transfer a generic clamp torque to a different filter.
Owner handover and proof
From a safe position, observe startup and ask the installer to confirm absence of leaks or abnormal pressure. Have the clean starting pressure and pump RPM recorded. Obtain the exact cartridge part numbers and manufacturer service threshold. Know who will perform maintenance; Pentair recommends professional filter servicing.
When not to accept the installation
Do not run a filter with an incorrectly seated lid, damaged clamp, leaking closure or inaccessible relief valve. Ask the installer to correct the defect before use. The finished job should permit safe future service, not just fit on the pad.
